Foster Grandparent Program
The Foster Grandparent Program brings multi-generational learning to the classroom! Highly trained, vetted and reliable older adult volunteers become ‘classroom grandparents’ in school settings, acting as tutors and mentors for students. Helping students Love to Learn!
Foster Grandparents create meaningful relationships with children in one-on-one and small group settings to help children reach academic benchmarks, in person or on-line.
Decades of outcome measurements in Idaho schools show children working with Foster Grandparent volunteers:
Demonstrate gains in school readiness
Develop healthy behaviors and attitudes in educational settings
Improve academic performance (literacy, writing, math, etc.)
Improve social and emotional skills
Volunteers may serve in Ada, Canyon, Elmore, Gem, Owyhee and Boise Counties in Idaho. Many Foster Grandparents serve in schools near their homes, and become the school grandparent for years to come!
